An overview of Doodline

Designer Yuvika Goli says she has always been fascinated by the long-standing relationship between fashion and art. So his collection was called Doodline merges line art with contemporary scribbles on a long, flowing silhouette. The 18-year-old says: “The doodles I draw and the line art are spontaneous, made without a plan or idea. Plus, there is always a story behind it all. The line art she uses for the collection includes distinct lines placed on a solid background, without any shade or tint gradation, to represent three-dimensional objects.

The newbie designer launched her label last August with a studio in Himayath Nagar. She started drawing as a teenager, even before starting her studies at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Hyderabad. “My mother (city designer Renuka Goli) is also a designer, so I grew up around fabric cuts and the hustle and bustle of karigars. And that’s what I’ve always wanted to do, ”she says.
Its capsule includes seven ready-to-wear outfits, made from khadi. The so-called “girl with red lips” and “lines and tulips” dresses are among the bestsellers, remarks the designer. One can notice long airy cuts, hand-embroidered cherry blossom patterns on the dresses apart from the doodles. Design highlights include playful collars and sleeves with kattana thread embroidery, beading and sequins. The shade card of his current collection includes colors like pale blue, dusty blue with an occasional yellow. However, this is likely to change soon. “When I met my clients at the Sunday Soul Health show a few days ago, they urged me to include black. So I’m going to add new outfits in black and oxblood, ”explains the designer. While most of the sketches and doodles are her own, she is also open to collaborating with her clients, if they bring their own sketches. “I could make sure their doodle is embroidered on the chosen outfit,” Yuvika suggests.
